Methodically then, each night, I lie back to plunder the resources from the back pages of my new sacred text, my New Bible, Negotiating the Special Education Maze.

I write a raft of letters to order all the books listed in the appendix as more narrowly focused on autism.

And write to order parent-psychologist Dr. Bernard Rimland’s Autism Research Review International newsletter. I ask he please send me every back issue.

As well as his early prize-winning book.

Over the next weeks, all these books and Rimland’s stapled newsletters pour in.

Easily a thousand dollars’ worth of books.

It’s OK.

At the moment, I’m flush with cash.

Or, expect to be.  Same thing.

It feels a right time to take risks.
