Leaving the Moon

Stephen Mead

Reprieve, this:
Crack of the green spring flowing,
A rush past the window
True as flat feet
Being massaged &
The want of love
All a bubble
To contain this,
Hold off the zomboid,
The gravity-less chaos
Spilling with panic & pathogens,
The creeping shut-out thought:
Not Enough Time…

All time is in this travelling,
Window clear, clean, the re-finding
Of small pleasures, small moments
Enlarging the treasure of being
Right where & with whom
You want to be
Good as curved spoons
Humming their useful shimmer…

That was your godsend,
Love, the evoked vocation,
Riding into & out of battles,
Recurrences, bravery, the oars
Of your arms,

Rowing.
